I have loved books and writing for as long as I can remember. As a child when asked what gifts I’d prefer the answer was always books. My favorites were the Walter Farley black stallion novels. My first attempt at writing a book was a horse novel. That one is thankfully under the bed and will stay there.
My first publishing credits were in my father’s small town weekly newspaper. I kept all the clippings now yellowed and faded. In college I followed my father by majoring in Journalism but always deep down I wanted to be a writer.
And I always tinkered with learning about writing. Many years later and lots of scribbled sheets I started to really get the hunger. That gut feeling that there was a story inside that someone would love to read.
Among the years of homeschooling my son and general domestic goddess duties I managed to still work at the craft. I’ve finished several books and learned so much but there is still more to learn. So I’m continuing the journey by writing, editing and submitting.
Better to follow your heart than look back with regret. And my top favorite quote–“Never give up, Never surrender!”
